NAIS and The NCBA

I don't think NCBA has changed their push for Mandatory ID. The heat everyone is giving them ( including many of their own membership) has just put them, like USDA, into operating more quietly and in the backrooms. NCBA has a long history of their leadership saying one thing, then doing the opposite. Usually for the benefit of Big Business and the multinational Packers.

NCBA is still hoping to cash in on a big money maker windfall out of NAIS. They just announced they have partnered with Allflex and are producing NAIS tags. On one web site I read where they are hoping to make $1 profit on every tag they sell.

I have to agree with you but hope ever springs eternal. Maybe the NCBA will do the right thing for a change but as long as the meat packers control it I doubt it.

I wrote on NAIS again this week in my newspaper column, as I have done several times over the months since it was first suggested. I have YET to receive one comment on the topic from a local farmer though. Guess they just don't care.
If you are interested in reading it drop me a note and I will send it to you. Probably nothing in it new to you though.
