The US is considering starting to let cattle come into the US again from Canada again but a news story I read this morning makes me wonder about it.
Cattle Feed Contaminated With Animal Parts, Canadian Paper Says
Feeding practices are the main way BSE is contracted and spread so maybe this whole situation needs looked into a little bit better before we open the border up. Who cares if Cuba is allowing in Canadian beef again after the Previous scare. We don't have to follow thier lead.

From what I understand this whole tracking system problem in the US is based on the fact that the states east of the Mississippi do not brand. The USDA does not really have any tracking problems with states that do.
